Lois you were a young girl at the time I worked for your Dad. I remember He was absolutely crazy about you.At the time I worked for him I was called MARY Jane #2.I am happy you responded, I have many fond memories of him,Leominster Hospital and how much he taught me, a very smart man he was. If it weren,t for him I would have never have had the great the great years in my profession as an infusion nurse, he taught me all he knew about sticking people,(as he called it.)Best wishes to you and your family Marie Jean

Very sorry to hear of the death of a wonderful man and surgeon. I worked for him after I graduated from Leominster Hospital in 1960, but did not start working for him until 1964, he was a great boss very giving and very kind, also a great sense of humor. I got married ing 1964, and for our wedding he gave me a great rocking chair which is still in the family. there are so many wonderful things he did for me , he helped me buy a new car, he bought me a pair of skies for xmas, one year so I could learn to ski, didn't learn much , never made it to the olympics. For so many things I thank him, great giving man. Marie Jean (Normandin) Smith Now Living in Sun City , Calif.
Thanks for teaching me so much esp Infusions , that is where most of my career has been and still is at the age of 71years...........

i met dr meadows in the early 1990's when i opened my
dental practice in bennington. our conversation started when he asked me where in west virginia are you from. although i grew up in the northern panhandle and attended wvu he would bring up elkins . often we talked of rural heath care as my father also was a surgeon and practiced family medicine and surgery. we talked of hunting and his trips to the west with family especially as his mobility declined how he accomplished this. a man of great accomplishments, compassion and a real sense of his roots.
and heritage. i for one will miss my conversations with dr meadows. i have great respect for this talented carrying west virginian. He will continue to
be carried in the hearts of the people who's lives he touch with his skill and compassion

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on Ed's passing. My earliest memories were when he came back to Gilman in the summer, and I was staying with Grandpa & Grandma Meadows on the dairy farm. He and Jay talked about girls and stuff that didn't make much sense to me, until about 10 years later. But the most enjoyable time was when we made our yearly trip to CA to hunt deer and wild boar. I would rent a SUV and pick them up at SFO, and we would go up together to Bucks ranch. I have so many fond memories of our time there and deeply miss that time together. Take care.

Many thanks to everyone for the kind words about our Dad. For the first 25 years of our lives, he was just "Good Old Dad". Then when we all grew up, got married and had kids of our own, he became "Grandpa Meadows". He was especially proud of his grandchildren who followed him into medicine: his oldest grandson, Dr. Jeff Meadows, is a Pediatric Cardiologist in California. His youngest granddaughter Caitlin Meadows, is in her final year of Medical School in Michigan, and will be starting her Orthopedic Surgery residency next year. Now he has 5 great grandsons and a single great grandaughter, Madeleine Meadows. He made a point of telling Maddie how special and beautiful she is, as well as praising her for being such a good student. In his various roles as Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, he was always kind, loving and fun. His legacy will live on in the next generation of Meadows children.

Uncle Ed was my dad's youngest brother. He told me his job at age 5 was to rock Ed in the cradle. Ed was a son, brother, father, uncle and a brilliant surgeon that we all will miss. We loved his visits to WV.

my mom, was a patient of Dr. Meadows, I believe in the early 60's, can rememer her telling all my aunts, if you need surgery he was the only one to use cause of his kindness and understanding of his patients, she said he was the best she 'd ever seen, for that the Benoit family will be eternally greatful, may he rest in peace, along side of all the Angels, thank you Dr. Meadows.

I am eternally grateful to Dr. Meadows for saving my mom's life when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1982. His aggressive treatment (through surgery) and continued follow up made a huge difference in her recovery.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Dr.'s family during this most difficult time.
