Oliver Ward Obituary

WARD, Oliver O. 76, of Sunapee, NH, formerly of Essex, MA and Melrose, MA died September 20 of heart failure. He leaves family, friends and loved ones including Ann Ward, Ethan Ward, Rufus Ward, Scobie Ward, Julie Scofield, Arlette Comer, Asa Fanelli, Dan Fanelli, Alex Fanelli, and Julian Su. Oliver was President and co-founder of GPD Optolectronics Corp, Salem, NH, formerly Germanium Power Devices Corp. of Andover MA. He served on a number of corporate and non-profit boards and there, as in all his relationships, his counsel, wisdom and humor were greatly appreciated. Throughout life, his attention was always on his next trip, whether to New Zealand or Europe or Hong Kong or someplace new. He is charting a new course now and we all say farewell and Godspeed. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 18th at Christ Church, 25 Central St., Andover MA.. In lieu of flowers, donations in Oliver's memory to Camp O-AT-KA, 593 Sebago Road, Sebago, Maine 04029 will help send needy boys to the summer camp where Oliver thrived as a boy.

I have only just learned of Oliver's passing, so forgive my late message of condolence. I met Oliver, along with Scobie and Rufus at New Zealand's Huka Lodge in the late 80s, and thoroughly enjoyed his wit and company. He will undoubtedly be missed by all. My kindest wishes to family and friends. Mike Bodnar, Wellington, New Zealamd [email protected]

Dear Ann and Family,
I have such fond memories of Ollie as a child. Having spent a lot of time at the house in Essex I remember thinking of him as Jolly Ollie. Such a wonderful man. I am very sorry for your loss.
