He was an important American artist whose impact in graphic design and bronze work was major in the late 1940s and 1950s. I am sorry that I never got to meet Mr Press, in fact there was so little information available about him on line in the past, I had to purchase a 1950 copy of American Artist to get a bio of him. Now I find he is gone. Almost every American of my age or older owned or saw an object that he has designed or made. His attempt to reach all people with his art led him to have plaster copies of his rare bronzes made so all could have access to his work. Thank you for a long life of effort and you will be missed. I am Robin Rosa, Freddie's niece. I would take my grandmother and my mother, Frances to visit with Uncle Freddie at his home. He was extremely warm and caring, and I enjoyed talking with him. The day of my grandmother's funeral, Uncle Freddi drew me on a piece of paper and we talked. He made me feel less sad and calm. He had that way about him.
God Bless your family.
