HENRY W. MINOT Jr.

MINOT, Henry W., Jr. 88, of Dover, MA died peacefully on March 30. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Cabot), as well as his three children: Henry W. Minot III of Edgecomb, ME; James J. Minot of Acton, MA; and Elizabeth M. Gazmuri of Needham, MA; and his sister Ellen Little of Dover, MA. He is pre-deceased by his brother George. He also had two grandchildren four step grandchildren, plus five great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. He was the son of Henry and Ellen Minot of Brookline, MA. He graduated from St. Mark's School in Southborough, MA and enlisted in the army. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and awarded the Purple Heart. After graduating from Harvard College in 1946 and Harvard Law School in 1951, he joined the law firm of Choate, Hall and Stewart, where he eventually became a senior partner. He was President of the yacht club in North Haven, ME (the Casino), where he enjoyed sailing and racing his family's 12 foot Hereshoff. He was President of the Board of Trustees at Charles River School in Dover, MA from 1958-60. In Dover he was also Chairman of the Board of Appeals from 1980-88. Additionally, he was Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Vincent Memorial Hospital in Boston from 1980-88, and after that served as a lifetime trustee. The service will be private.
