Bob.... we were among the lucky ones.... you finished 5th in the New England High School Cross Country championships (NEHSCCC) in 1964 and I placed 6th in the same meet in 1965. Massachusettes stopped competeing in the NEHSCCC in 1972 and what joy we had as athletes competeing on New England regional basis has been denied Massachusetts track athletes since then. There is no more Fall or Spring competition for our Massachusetts distance runners. What a tragedy.. Bill Rodgers finished behind me on that day in 1965. Track and distance running fueled us both to be better men than we probably ever imagined. I am so happy to read of all your accomplishments outside running. We were among the lucky ones... we got a chance to compete against our peers and it fueled us both to go much much further... Thank you Bob for being such a fine athlete and good example of a good man John K

I knew Bob and competed against him both in High School and in college. 50 years later I find out Bob is gone...Bob's life lends credibility to Dr Edward Hollowell's play, practice, passion, community, mastery and recognition. I did not know of Bob's passion in the schoolhouse only his passion on the track. Thank you Bob for going far beyond in pursuit of all your passions. Your life is a lesson to me that there is still far more to accomplish before we meet again. Thanks for being such a champion in life.

Bob was a talented and supportive teammate. I was fortunate to see Bob at one of our track reunions. We reminisced, with fondness, about our experiences at NU.
With sympathy to Bob's family,

Condolences to Bob's Family & Friends. We attended Malden HS in the mid 1960's and bowled after school in highly competitive matches - Bob usually won. Kudos to him for his amazing accomplishments. Sadly, he's gone too soon.
