I only belatedly learned of the passing of my good friend and fellow JAG Warrior, Bob Cotell. I became close friends with Bob when he and I were fellow students in the U.S. Army JAG Corp year-long 45th Officer Graduate Course, at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Legal Center & School, in Charlottesville, VA (1997-98). Bob and I would go to dinner together most every evening. We would work out together, laugh, and talk history, politics, religion, and so much else together. Bob wasn't just an attorney who happened to be in the Army. He was, first and foremost, a true Warrior. Bob loved serving in the Army and Soldiering. Rest in peace, my friend. I will never forget you . . . and I salute you, brother. Eich.

Bob and I were colleagues in the Army JAGC and became very close friends when we were both students in the JAGC's year long, intensive Officer Graduate Course (1996-1997). Bob and I would frequently work out together and then go out to dinner. We had some great conversations! Bob had a very keen intellect and a great sense of humor. Bob loved the Army and our nation, but most especially Almighty God and his family. While we lost touch these past years, I will never forget Bob. I salute you, my good friend and brother in arms and in The Faith! Eich.

So, so sad. There was no-one better to have a conversation with. Albeit too short, some of my best expriences were serving with Bob and talking about anything, from our many common interests, to especially those Pats. With a heavy heart I send my utmost respect and prayers. God willing, I look forward to talking to Bob, again.

I am praying tonight for Bob, a fellow Northeastern ROTC allumni like myself who went to JAG Corps too. What a great contribution to Fort Bragg and our Country and Soldiers. God will bless him and may he move straight into Heaven I pray. Michael Connell Col Ret (JAG)

I knew Bob as the long-time best friend of my son Richard, and while I met only him a few times, his loyalty and dedication to his country, the Army, his family, and his friends was obvious and truly to be admired. Well done Bob. May you rest in eternal peace.

I served with Bob at the JTFO in Salt Lake City. He was a true professional and patriot. He gave all of us in the senior leadership team sound advice, which was much needed during a very difficult time for all of us.This country has lost a great American.

I am very saddened to learn of Bob's passing. Although I have not seen Bob in many years, we spent several months together in the 118th Judge Advocate Basic Course together in 1989. He was a true gentleman, leader and inspiration. My condolences to his family.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Cotell family.
COL Cotell was my Chief of Military Justice at XVIII Airborne Corps. He was a great leader and a great man. We spent hours in his office, often late into the night, discussing military justice, politics and baseball. I have many fond memories.
Through the years, he always took time to mentor and guide me on career and life decisions. I will miss him and the world will be a lesser place without him.
Rest in peace, sir!
