Brother Jim and The Little Brothers gave me hospitality when I first arrived in Boston on my pilgrimage in the footsteps of St. Benedict Joseph. We remained friends ever since - in contact only occasionally - meeting only twice more - once again in Boston and once when Br. Jim was in St. Paul.

His ideal was the primitive contemplative Franciscan life as the first friars lived it at the eremo delle Carceri in Assisi - only Jim took it to the streets. He was a faithful, holy friar.

I thank God for his vision and witness.

I am saddened to hear of Brother Curran's passing. My brother was a great friend of the Little Brothers of St. Francis and was sad to see them leave. Rest in peace, Brother Curran

Brother James, may you dwell in the house of the Lord, free from pain and filled with joy for all eternity. I know that Jesus has prepared a special place for his Little Brothers. I will miss your smile and your generous heart.
