Attended Malden High School and Harvard University Extension School on the GI Bill. A veteran of WW II, he served as a captain in the Pacific theater including the Solomon Islands campaign. In 1951, Mr. Wischusen started the Winchester Carton Corporation in Winchester, MA, a box manufacturing business where he invented one of the first carry-out trays. He played competitively for 50 years primarily on the East coast, Scotland and Europe. He officiated and played at countless tournaments including the USGA, and won numerous club championships in Massachusetts and Florida. An advocate for competitive amateur golf, he was a president of many top amateur golf organizations including the Massachusetts Golf Assn, the Bay State Seniors Golf Assn and the American Seniors Golf Assn, and a member of the Hickory Shafts, The Three Score and Ten Club, Southern Seniors Golf Assn and the US Senior Golf Assn. He was a longtime supporter of the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret LaRue Wischusen of Peachtree Corners, GA, a daughter Marsha Wischusen, two sons, Henry Wischusen, III and daughter in-law Penny Ledbetter Wischusen and Everett William Wischusen and daughter in-law Sheri Maples Wischusen, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four nephews and their wives. Great guy, great golfer - We caddies at Bellevue G.C. used to fight to get to caddy for Mr. Wischusen and his long time playing partner, Russ Brown.
