Joseph Figula Obituary

Joseph M. Figula., 50, a dedicated husband, father, son, and brother of Derrick Road, Bradford, passed away unexpectedly Thursday (Sept. 29, 2016) in Ellicottville, N.Y.
Born Jan. 22, 1966, in Bradford, he is the son of Jane Bartlebaugh Figula of Lafayette, and the late Michael J. Figula Jr., who died April 23, 2011. On July 25, 1992, in St. Bernard Church, he married Valerie L. Anderson Figula, who survives.
He was a 1983 graduate of Bradford High School and graduated in 1984 with a degree in welding from the Lincoln Electric-Technical School in Cleveland, Ohio.
Joe worked with his father, Mike, and grandfather, Mike, at Mike's Body Shop, and Edmonds Chevrolet Auto Body Shop. He began his career in trucking in 1990, working for LDB Trucking, later Bradford City Public Works, and Keane Fracking. He was currently working for Benjamin Truck Service.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, Eagles, and the Enchanted Mountain Border Riders Snowmobile Club.
Joe enjoyed boating, go-cart racing, snowmobiling, going to late model dirt track races, and the Seneca Allegany Casino with family and friends. He along with his uncle, Duane, spent many hours hunting and trapping. If there was ever a person in need, Joe was the first one to help.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 24 years and his mother Jane, are three sons, Andrew Figula, Daniel Figula and Phillip Figula, all of Bradford; one sister, Pam (Bob) Smith of Hagerstown, Md.; two uncles, Duane (Barb) Bartlebaugh of Bradford and Don (Cathy) Bartlebaugh of Marietta, Miss.; two aunts, Betty (Brad Crittenden) Stady of Bradford and Sandy Andersen of Florida; four nephews, Derec Smith, Alec Smith, Kyle Smith and Brandon Sherk; one niece, Brooklyn Anderson; and several cousins and many good friends.
Family will be receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main St., where funeral and committal services will be held at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Pierotti, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, officiating.
