Sue Ann Platko Obituary

Sue Ann Leona Platko, 79, of 947 High Street Ext., Bradford, passed away Monday (May 12,2014) at The Pavilion at BRMC surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 16, 1934, in Custer City, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Karrasch and Bernice Woodring Karrasch Barber.
On Aug. 23, 1952, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, she married Steve Platko who survives. They were the first couple to be married with the permanent altar in Our Mother of Perpetual of Help Church.
Mrs. Platko graduated from Bradford High School. After high school she and her husband, who was serving in the U.S. Army, spent some time in Germany. Upon returning to the States, she became a stay-at-home mom and raisied her children. Later in life she worked at Minard Run Oil Company for over 20 years, retiring in 1999.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend. She was happiest spending time with loved ones. Her kindness and caring touched so many lives and will always be remembered for her gentle nature. 
She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by four daughters, Cynthia (William) McEwen, Julia (Jeffrey) McLaughlin, Lorraine (Michael) Hannon, and Rebecca (Kenneth) Yohe; two sons, John (Bev Tallentire) Platko and Mark (Kelly) Platko; 16 grandchildren, Matthew Platko, Jillian Platko, Garrett (Nicole) McEwen, Mitchell McEwen, Charles (Arouna) McEwen, Brian McLaughlin, Emily McLaughlin, Brandi Bucheit, Chad (Melissa) Bucheit, Tara (Jeremy) Smith, Megan Yohe, Cassandra Platko, Brianna Platko, Angela (Dylan Rimer) Yohe, Russell Tallentire and Alyssa (Jason) Wood; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Peggy) Karrasch; and many nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Platko who died Dec. 25, 2003; four sisters and three brothers.
At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. on Thursday in St. Bernard Church with the Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor, as celebrant. Private burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to American Cancer Society, McKean Co. Unit, 95 Main Street, Bradford, PA 16701 or charity of the donor's choice.
