Dear Cathy, Mary and Tom,
You may not remember me. I met you at your home in VT almost 30 years ago. When I was student, I studied at School for International Training in Brattleboro in 1980. I stayed for two weeks at the Kaufmann's home as a home-stay program then. Dick and Mom welcomed me warmly and took care of me. I remember Mom's very good cook. Meatball spaghettis was my favorite dish and Mom made it many times after she knew my favorite. She was very very kind to me even I couldn't speak English well.
Dick took me to a baseball game to play. I played in his team, however, the high-ball throwing style was hard for me to hit since I have been played in the baseball team at high school and its high-speed throwing style. He comforted me in the car on the way home. Dick loves baseball very much. He really enjoyed telling the story of the Yankees' Reggie Jackson hitting three homers in a row in the World Series.
I found the legacy.com site the Dick passed. I am very sorry for your loss. I have the memory of Dick and Mom always.
I may go to Vermont in the near future. I hope to meet you all at that time.
Hope you all are well.
With love from Tokyo.

Dear Cathy, Mary and Tom I am so very sorry for your loss. Not only did I work with Dick at G.S. Precision but also I was your neighbor on Shady Lane on the other side of the "loop". May the Good Lord comfort you in your time of sorrow. Prayers and respect,

I am deeply sorry to hear of Dick's passing. I worked with Dick for almost twenty years (back when he had longer hair) I will miss Dick very much as I'm sure you will. Remembering Dick's smile and welcoming personality will always bring a smile to my face.
I will often think of him.

Dear Kathy, Mary and Thomas, I did not know Dick for a long time but long enough to know he was a good and kind man! He will be remembered for his selflessness by all who knew him. My prayers go out to all of you.

Rich was a great guy and always took the time to offer advice to us younger guys at school. As John Reinke has already said, his brothers at Manhattan celebrate his life and send our love to his dear family. The spirit of his life has now been joined to ours eternally.
In God's peace.

My deepest sympathies are with you, Cathy, Mary and Thomas. You are in my prayers. Dick was, as I used to tell him, The Best Boss in the Whole World. I will miss him a great deal.

The Manhattan Prep / Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office at Manhattan College has been informed. As well as the Prep & Jasper community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
On a personal note, Rich was the first one who called after Frau Reinke died. He always encouraged me. Even to the point of coming up and staying in how extra "crash pad". He was the one who teased me that in "CHURCH 10?19?62", "my children" fled to and made Vermont a paradise. It always stings when a Jasper passes. It stings a little more when they are from your own year. When it's one of the few Prepsters, I have contact with even more so. When it's a genuinely nice guy, that really getting up there on the "worst scale".
