Just learned of the passing of Klaus via the June exhibition announcement. He taught a photography course @ UMASS which I was honored to take - he was a really gifted instructor, so supportive and gentle and very inspiring, bringing out the "visionary" in every student in the class (note: he was technically gifted too). The photography studio became a wonderful creative oasis for many of us. When we had our student exhibition, we named it "Klaus's Kids" because we were so proud of being his students -- Klaus was awesome. So sad to learn of his passing and wish him eternal love and peace.

Klaus - your generous and creative soul remains to light the way for artists in particular and gentle humans everywhere. Safe journey, dear Klaus, wherever you may travel.

Passionate about Life, He enthusiastically created a unique and personal Art. He was influential in the Mail Art realm, with the moniker "Social Artists Reality Empire". His radical artist lifestyle included the Rural Mountain and Urban extremes. He monkey wrenched the obnoxiously huge billboards on the New Hampshire side of the river. He also was an apple picker and apple tree pruner. He had well thought out schemes as to how he pruned the trees to be productive and very easy to pick from. They had a unique style to them. Klaus was extremely good humored.
Klaus was a great friend, and I shall miss him greatly.

Suggested entries??? No chance: goodbye to one of the coolest cats ever to stalk this planet.

Beatnik, traveler, lover, punk rocker, a progenitor and master of the mail art movement beginning in the '60s, gentle, angry, generous to a fault, inhabited by a ferocious and yes undying creativity.

We called each other brother. I miss him.

I hope Jesus has plenty of heavy cream on hand for Klaus' coffee.
