Hazel Weiskotten Obituary

Hazel "Buddy" Weiskotten, age 99, was born Feb. 23, 1912, in Aurora, Ontario, Canada.

She was the second eldest of 12 children. She is survived by a brother, David Smart, of New York, N.Y.; a daughter, Beverley Harris; two grandsons, Peter Harris (Elizabeth) of Brownsville, Texas, and David Harris (Vicky) of Farmington, Conn.; four great-grandchildren, Emily Harris and Parker Harris of Brownsville, and Wells Harris and Caleb Harris of Farmington, Conn. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Herman G. Weiskotten, dean emeritus of Syracuse University Medical School. As a child of 13, Hazel left home to become a nanny in Detroit. After a few years she became a clothing model in Chicago. In the 1930s she made her way back to Toronto where she married Gordon A Wilson. During this marriage she owned and ran a restaurant /resort. After a divorce she lived in Ottawa and Miami Beach. While in Miami Beach she worked for Howard Hughes at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. There she met and later married Dr. Herman Weiskotten and lived in Skaneateles, N.Y. She lived there until 2005 when she moved to Brownsville.

Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 31201 State Highway 100, Los Fresnos, on Monday, March 14, at 11 a.m.
