I decided to look up my old Scout Master from Troop 3 and sadly this is where I found him. I just wanted to say "Thank you for all you´ve done." You were the greatest father figure in my life and an excellent example of a good and honorable gentleman. If it wasn´t for the Church and the BSA, having Jim as my Scout Master I don´t where I would´ve ended up. I´m a commercial pilot now flying for aerial firefighting and air ambulance. Both of my younger brothers, inspired by what I accomplished went on to become Eagle Scouts so we have three in the family and Jim Abbott should get a lot of credit for that.
Thank you so much! God Bless. Rest In Peace.

Our Deepest Condolances to you Janet and the Children and to the Scouts that he was so close to. The Good LORD has a Saint and Jimmy was a true Saint here on Earth. I am very proud to have been Jimmy's friend and I too will miss him but the hurt that only you his family are going through is much deeper. Jimmy I know you are looking down at us and are saying to your self I am not in pain and I am doing much better then you on Earth. And Jimmy there is only one way to say this and that is in Spanish. Via Con DIOS Mi Amigo. Go With GOD my Friend.

What a treasure Jimmy was. I met Jimmy for the first time at a mutual friends home in 1984. We had all joined for a night of fun & music. Jimmy was wheeled into the home in a wheelchair. Not knowing him, I thought he had some sort of physical problem. But not long after his arrival he had, what I thought,a Miracle experience & stood up! Oh what a laugh we all had. Jimmy was always so quick with a joke & a laugh. And during my own cancer battle, his love, prayers, laughter & support, along with that of his sweet wife Janet, became a constant presence. Thank you Jimmy, save me a seat in the music hall & you will be missed until we are all in that heavenly light together. Give my Daddy my love please. Love, Maggie

A "Celebration of Life" is indeed an apt memorial for Jimmy Abbott. I first met Jimmy when I joined the Cub Scout Den where his mother served as the Den Mother. Later, Jimmy and I were Scouts in Troop 3 where his father served as Scoutmaster. As is evident from the long list of Jimmy's charitable activities, he followed his parents' example in serving others, especially the less fortunate. Because of his many contributions to the community, including his church, Jimmy will be sorely missed. He leaves us, however, with a model of service to others all of us would do well to follow. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories as you grieve your loss. I have many, many fond memories of my dear sweet friend, Jimmy, and the many "adventures" he led us all in, but the thing that stands out most is Jimmy and his Great Dane "puppy"?? that Jimmy took EVERYWHERE he went. My heartfelt condolences---he was truly a wonderful person.
