Clara M. Shackelford

BUCYRUS: Clara M. Shackelford, 91 years of age and a lifelong Bucyrus resident passed away on Monday evening at home. Clara was born Jan. 9, 1920 in Bucyrus to the late Clarence J. and Marie A. (Shumaker) Brinkman.

She was married over 55 years to the late Richard P. Shackelford who preceded her in death on May 1, 2000. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brother Donald "Bucky" Brinkman and sister Donna Smith.

Clara is survived by son, Richard P. Shackelford Jr. and wife Anita of Bucyrus; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Scott) Perdue and Elisa (Dave) Zealor both of Bucyrus; three great grandchildren, Amber and Brandon Perdue and Blake Zealor; as well as two sisters, Evelyn Benham, Bucyrus and Alice Katterhenrich of Grove City.

Several years ago Mrs. Shackelford was a houseparent with her husband for Maplecrest Home for Girls and had worked at Isaly's as a waitress. For many years Clara worked as a secretary for Human Services. She was a Bucyrus High School graduate in 1938 and member of First Christian Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Smith officiating, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
