I am grateful to Shirley for hiring me as a clerk at Butler Library and encouraging me to become a librarian. I'll never forget her greyhound stories and the love she had for her family. She was a wonderful person. My sympathy goes out to all her loved ones!

Dear Phyllis,
The world lost a fine person as Shirley died. Having worked with her at Maryvale, for several years, I grew to know her and how special she was. She was an exceptional friend, great teacher, and always shared her feelings of love for you and Norma. She was so proud and caring of both of you. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy are with you and all of Shirley's family at this difficult time.

I remember Shirley from my first days with BGA in 1994. She had the group picnics for a couple of yrs and I worked with her at the booth during the fair. She gave so much of her time for the love of the greyhounds.

In 1997 I adopted by first greyhound that Shirley fostered. We volunteered at meet & greets together for BGA. Over the years we remained friends. I'll think of her fondly every time I drive past her house on the Boulevard. My condolences to her family. She was a kind soul and will be greatly missed.

I met Shirley through our mutual friends and love of poodles. She was a very kind person. While she was ill, I send her several cards to cheer her up. One day, I received the sweetest card in my mail, thanking me for the cards that I had sent her. It touched me so much, that I saved her card and sweet note. As awful as she felt, I was so touched that she would take the time to write and thank me. But that was Shirley.

I worked with Shirley at the college. She was a wonderful person to work with. Sorry for your loss.
