ARDESCHIR ABADI, M.D. SOUTH BURLINGTON - Ardeschir Abadi, M.D., of South Burlington, passed away on Sept. 4, 2011, in Fletcher Allen Medical Center of Burlington. He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Kerman, Iran. He grew up and was educated in Iran. During World War II, he worked with the British on the oil fields of Abadan, Iran, helping to fuel the Allied war effort. After World War II, he attended medical school at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany where he received his Doctor of Medicine. He came to the United States in the mid 1950's and completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency in Massachusetts. He met his wife, Kathleen, at The Malden Hospital. They moved to St. Johnsbury in 1966, where he practiced Internal Medicine for the next 25 years before retiring and, eventually, relocating to South Burlington in 1998. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and physician. His family and his patients were his two priorities in life. He was predeceased by his mother, Shirin; father, Esfandiar; and his four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen, of South Burlington; daughter, Arlene Bosco of Jay and her three children, John, Daniel and Andrew; son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Malia, of Randolph and their son, Zain; and son, Christopher and daughter-in-law, Susan, of Barrington, R.I. and their three children, Neelia, Jack and Ella. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being made by the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service for a private family service.
