Catherine Best Obituary
Catherine "Caddy" Best, 97, of Parker died of natural causes Saturday morning at Concordia Lutheran Ministries care center, Cabot.
Her death came 16 days after the death of her very close sister, Rosella Dunlap, who died March 9, 2006.
Born Sept. 18, 1908, in Indiana, Pa., she was a daughter of William Matthew "Butch" and Rose Hodder Zeuhls.
She was a graduate of Parker High School.
Mrs. Best was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Parker and was a longtime member of the women's association of the church. In her early years, she was the Salvation Army contact for those in need in her area.
She was a postal clerk at the Parker Post Office for years and retired in the early 1970s.
She was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Parker Duplicate Bridge Club. Along with hosting many bridge functions, she was well known for her keen ability to decorate her home and prepare the dining room for formal dinners.
In addition to the interior fondness of her home, she enjoyed maintaining a neat yard and nice floral plantings around her home. She also was very particular about the manner in which the home was decorated for the Christmas season.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Val Jeanne and Dean Henry of Parker and Billie Zeuhls and Alvin Busche of Long Beach, Miss.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Victoria and Eric John, Patrick and Sally Henry, Michael and Marion Henry, Bryce and Melissa Busche and Gregory and Kimberly Busche; and seven great-grandchildren, Ian John, Matthew, Alicia and Marshall Henry, Jade, Jordan and Alessandria Busche; and two great-great-grandchildren, Abigal and Madeline John.
Her husband, Charles A. "Buss" Best, whom she married Aug. 18, 1928, died April 3, 1980.
In addition to her husband and sister, she was preceded in death by another sister, Anna Hill; and a brother, William Zeuhls.
BEST - Friends of Catherine "Caddy" Best, who died Saturday, March 25, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Anschutz, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.

To the families of Caddy Best, please accept our deepet sympathy. I enjoyed working with Caddy at the post office for a brief time. She always had a smile and a friendly word for everyone. She was so sweet.

Dear Billie Zeuhls, Val Jeanne, and family. I wasa so sorry to hear of your mother's death, but have so many memories of good times at her home. She and Rosella had such full lives, and I always knew all was well in Parker when I saw her house decorated for the holidays on the hill.

Dear Zeuhls and Val Jeanne,
How sad it is to hear of the passing of your Mother and also Rosella. Your mother brought such elegance and class to everything that she touched that the pictures that come to mind when I think of her are 'priceless'. She and Mom had such good times and lots of laughter over the years. The warmth of your home, even while simply driving down Ludlow, is one of my favorite memories of Parker.

Val Jeanne and Billie Zeuhls: I am so sorry to have learned so late of your mother's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. Unfortunately, I missed her the past two summers. All of us will miss her but we have been fortunate to have known and loved her for so many years. Let us all remember the good times with her.
