Sarah Marie White
Sarah Marie Sweeny White, 69, of Prospect passed away Wednesday evening at the Butler Memorial Hospital Emergency Room following a four-week illness.
She was born Jan. 12, 1941, in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of Andrew T. and Elizabeth Roche Sweeny.
She was a 1984 graduate of Slippery Rock University. She enjoyed teaching, and she taught at middle schools, high schools and online classes in this area.
She was an accomplished astrologer for more than 40 years.
She was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
She was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Prospect.
She had varied interests. She loved to plant flowers, home gardening and online communications, and she would drop anything to be with family, especially if it was mischief.
She is survived by her husband, James William White Sr,. who she married Jan. 19, 1963; two children, Elizabeth (Ray Jr.) Melisko of Emsworth and James (Kristina) White Jr. of Austintown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Raymond Melisko III, Andrew, Austin and Jessica White; six siblings, Mary Kaehly, Paul Sweeny, Timothy Sweeny, Catherine Sweeny, James Sweeny and Joellen Marsh. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Terrence Sweeny.
WHITE - Friends of Sarah Marie Sweeny White, who died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect. Visitation will continue from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a blessing service at 4 p.m. with Father Joseph Feltz, her church pastor, officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the MS Foundation or the Breast Cancer Foundation.
