Mary Verner Obituary
Mary Ann Verner, 91, of Pittsburgh passed away Tuesday.
Mary was the former owner of the Venus Diner in Gibsonia and the Golden Coach Restaurant in Beaver Falls.
Mary loved to cook and bake for her friends and was very passionate about her love of all sports. She enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles with her friends.
She was the wife of the late Nicholas J. Verner; loving mother of Nicholas (Jayne) Verner, Patricia (Dennis) Waldinger and Gentry Verner; sister of Larry (Janet) Verone; sister-in-law of Rosemarie, Susan and Louise Verone; and dear grandmother of Brent (Chrissy) Verner, Andrew Verner, Melanie Waldinger and Jonathan Waldinger.
VERNER - Friends of Mary Ann Verner, who passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, are welcome from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at theWilliam Slater II Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township, Allegheny County. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Bernard Church, Mount Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Red Cross (Services for the Armed Forces), 225 Blvd. of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

To Patricia, Gentry & family we wanted to let you know we were thinking of you and sending prayers your way during this difficult time. I worked at the apts. where Mary lived and got to know her quite well and my wife Janet & I shared many laughs and good times with her. The way I got to know her on a personal level, I did maintenance there and she asked if I could do her a favor when I was done work. She asked if I would stop by so I did and she told me she needed me to cut all the legs off on her bed as it was too high for her to get into. It was a NEW bed and I asked if she was sure and she said YES cut them off so I had to cut them down about 5in. and everyday after that I affectionately referred to her as "legs". I will really miss her friendship and I wish everyone could enjoy life as much as she did. She always put a smile on both our faces. Take care and may God watch over each of you.

My condolences to Mary's whole family! She was one of a kind! I knew her and most of her family from working as a waitress at the diner, some great memories were created there, she will be missed!
