Monica HARBECK Obituary
October 4, 1964 - February 7, 2012
It is with indescribable sadness that we must announce the passing of Monica Harbeck (nee Teresa Monica Sosnowski) at 4:35 p.m. MST on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. She was surrounded and embraced by those closest to her at the time she passed away. Monica is survived by her husband, Reg Harbeck (she was the love of his life), their two kids Naomi and Thomas (for whom no more excellent mother could exist), her mother Maria Sosnowski (they loved each other dearly and spent much time helping each other out) and her three doting older brothers, Mark, Andrew and Chris Sosnowski and their families. She was a kind and gentle woman with great faith and joy within her soul. Among other talents, she was a linguist and taught her children excellent Polish, despite being born in Calgary and learning her Polish at her parents' knees. She took pleasure in simple things and was grateful for all her blessings. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. James Catholic Church (5504 - 20 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church (5504 - 20 Street S.W.) on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with The Rev. Jaroslaw Dziuba, SDS, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Monica's family through www.evanjstrong.com . For those who wish to contribute to a bouquet of donations in Monica's name, some charities close to her heart were: Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta (100, 119 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, T2N 1Z6, www.heartandstroke.ab.ca ), L'Arche Calgary (307 - 57 Avenue S.W., Calgary, T2H 2T6, www.larche.ca ) and Canadian Red Cross (Box 4050 Station C, Calgary, T2T 5W7, www.redcross.ca ). Reg and Family,
I was shocked and so saddened to read that Monica had passed away. I will always remember her as a faithful servant of God and a devoted follower of Mary. I know she is dancing with the angels...Heaven is blessed with a kind, beautiful soul who will be missed .

To Mary, Mark, Andrew and Chris, and all who loved Monica,
It was with the greatest sadness that I heard of your loss from my sister Melissa. Although many, many years have passed since I saw Monica (she would have been 5 when we left Lewis Drive for Toronto) I have good memories of those days, with little Monica and her bright smiling face, making her familys eyes light up with pride at their special little girl.

Reg and family, I am very sorry for this tragic loss. I worked with Monica briefly when she was teaching at Holy Redeemer and just recently saw her in the fall. It was so nice to see her again. She was always so kind and had a smile on her face. She spoke so highly of her children and you when we met. My deepest condolences.

It was very sad news to learn that Monica is no longer with us in person. Monica had a very infectious laugh. One summer day she and my daughter Sheila (Gorman), when teenagers, were sailing on Glenmore Lake. I don't know what manoeuvre they were trying to coax our little sailboat to do but from the niddle of the lake floated Monicas laugh to my ears on the shore. That has been etched in my memory for all these years and when it comes to me, which it has done many times, it is like it happened yesterday. Thank you Monica for that memory and many more. May your family and friends have many magical memory moments of you too. My love to all your family.

It is a times like this, we turn and ask why . . . but the real thing is to console each other with the great memorys that we share ...
