Ronald ALLBRIGHT Obituary

Ron passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Survived by loving wife, Anne; daughters, Carolanne DeBiasio (Marc) and Karen Allbright; grandchildren, Christina and Michael; sister, Eileen; family and friends. Ron, married to Anne for 56 years, will be best remembered for his larger than life, gentle heart and warm smile. Known as the Badger, he had love for family and football. He was a proud native Calgarian who attended Western Canada HS and received his B.Sc. in Engineering from the U of A. His career spanned 36 years at the City of Calgary. He played junior football with the Bronks and signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 1956, playing for 12 years, and was named to the Stampeders' Wall of Fame in 2014. Ron coached university, junior and community football, and was a member of the Stampeder Alumni Association, Carstairs Golf Club and past president of the Calgary Curling Club. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Red & White Club (1833 Crowchild Trail NW) on Saturday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to Foothills Hospital staff, Unit 61. Anne and Family: I just heard about the passing of Ron and my sincere condolences go out to you and your family for your lose. As you know I was always and will be one of Ron's faithful fans and he was also a very dear friend to me and my family. My affections and prayers goes out to you and your family. P.S. My son Ronnie Jr. and I often talk about the trip we had with Ron to Dinosaur Park. Ronnie calls it the 'The Three Ronnie's Trip'....lol

Dear Anne and Carolanne (and Marc).
I am so sorry about Ron's passing. We had some fun talks about football. We would tease each other as I was from Saskatchewan and "one of those" Rider fans. Ron was such a nice person.

Ann, Carolanne and Karen: We were so sorry to hear that your husband and dad passed away so suddenly. I imagine the shock of such a big loss will carry you through the first part of this painful time. I really liked your dad although I didn't realize how famous and gifted he had been as a football player. My mom and Allen knew, but I saw him as your dad- a kind and decent man. Our prayers go out to you all as you grieve this major loss. If we can help in any way, please don't hesitate to ask. By the way, his Celebration of Life was beautiful.

Anne and family:
My deepest sympathy for the lose of Ron. I had the privilage of having him as an offensive line coach at the U of C, where he taught me a lot about football and responsibility. Our friendship has continued over the years doing his plumbing work. I will always remember his smiling face and the twinkle in his eyes. There will be no more holding calls Ron.
