Bernard Arthur Payne, of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Bernard was born on October 19, 1929 in Calgary. Bernard worked for many years as a manager at AGT. He married Pearl Murray on June 9, 1951. He was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #285, the First Canadian Collector Club and the Southwest Seniors Club and enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Later in life he spent many hours enjoying fitness classes and many nights out dancing with his good friend Marion. Bernard is survived by his one daughter, Dorothy; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Doug, Don and Janet and David; three grandchildren, McKenzie (Leah), Daniel (Maria), and Cade; three great- grandchildren, Walter, Murphy, and Chantelle; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harvey, Roy and Sandy. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pearl and brother Ron. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Bernard Payne, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Dear Dorothy and family, I hope you are still able to read this. I was very sad to hear that Bernard had passed away. He always phoned me on my birthday and I didnt hear from him this year. I just bought that perhaps he was busy. I phoned him on his birthday and that led me eventually to looking up obituaries. I spent many fine dinners with Bernard and my mum Patricia. He was a kind and interesting man. Best wishes from Wayne McNamara
