Annie Keegstra passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Annie was born on June 2, 1923 in Friesland, The Netherlands. In April 1928, her parents came to Canada and settled near Kirkaldy, AB. Annie took her schooling to grade 8 there, later she took her high school and Bible school training at Prairie Bible Institute for five years. She then worked at Alberta Government Telephones (Telus) from 1952 to 1982 retiring in June, 1982. She was a member of the First Alliance Church in Calgary, there she was deaconesses from 1984 to 2001 and visited the ill and elderly. She was on the Seniors Committee for six years and served in the Church Library for many years. Annie also volunteered for Christian "INFO" for three years and for Bible Church Ministries. Annie made many trips to Holland and two to Scotland. Annie will be greatly missed by the many friends she made while she lived in Calgary and later in Airdrie. Annie is survived by her sister Alida Harink of Lacombe, AB; brothers Robert Keegstra (Grace) of Oakwood, ON, John Keegstra (Joan) of Rimbey, AB and Jim Keegstra (Lorraine) of Red Deer, AB; sister-in-law Viola Keegstra of Crossfield, AB; and her numerous nieces and nephews who meant so much to her. Annie was predeceased by her parents, brother Louie and her sister Jenny. Funeral Services will be held at Airdrie Alliance Church (1604 Summerfield Boulevard) on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Family Graveside Service was held at Crossfield Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4R 3S6 (Telephone 1-403-309-4344). The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Red Deer Hospice for their loving care for Annie. You are such special people. Thank you to all the staff and friends at 309 Woodside Drive, Airdrie who were so good to her when she was ill. Arrangements in care of McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES.
