Victoria NZEKWU Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald from May 12 to May 13, 2012.
NZEKWU, Victoria Hope
August 2, 1952 - April 30, 2012
Victoria (Viki) Nzekwu, beloved wife of Ben Nzekwu of Calgary, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the age of 59.
Viki was a beautiful woman, always with a radiating, disarming smile. She found meaning through a life of prayer. Viki was a compassionate, generous, and selfless woman. Viki moved mountains to get things done for the betterment of individuals and community, sometimes at personal cost. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and irreplaceable friend.
Viki was born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. She attended Holy Child College (Lagos) for her West African school certificate, and Federal Government College (Warri) for higher school certificate. Viki obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Master's degree in Library Studies at the University of Ibadan. She moved to Calgary in 1979, to join her husband and completed an MBA (Finance) at the University of Calgary in 1983. Viki was Certified Financial Planner and she had a successful career as a financial advisor. Through her company, BenHope Financial Services she was affiliated with various companies including Regal Capital Planners, Cartier Planners, and Dundee Wealth Management, building her clientele through seminars, radio shows and her magnetic personality. She was a devoted member of the Nigerian Canadian Community Association and gave countless hours in voluntary service towards building a viable community.
Viki founded the Foundation for Aids Eradication and Control (FACE) and raised funds to support UNlCEF activities. She was heavily involved in various Church groups, devoting her life to serving Christ. Viki believed strongly in higher education, and made countless sacrifices to provide less fortunate children with the funding necessary to attend school. She will be sorely missed.
Viki is survived by her husband, Ben Nzekwu; and children, Ugo and her husband Dan, Chudi, and Emeka.
Viki was predeceased by her father William Amulo and mother Alice Nkechi Igbosuah.

What a loss to you all. God has another angel to watch over you from above. There are no words that can comfort you all right now. I personally have fond memories of the times that Viki graced my presence with her radiant smile. Her Spirit will live on in her 3 wonderful children who have all grown up into such warm smart adults because of her loving care.

Ben - We are so very sorry for the loss of a dear friend Viki. Death is never easy to accept, whether it comes swiftly without warning or whether we have time to process it, so we hope you are able to find comfort in the love of your family and friends.
Warmest regards,
Enid and Charles Pratt (Calgary, AB)
