Ruth Crawford Obituary

Ruth Maxine Crawford
age 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2011 after several years of declining health. She was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on Feb. 7, 1923 daughter to the late Daniel and Pearl (Fox) McDonald. Ruth was a resident of Canton most of her life and a member of First Church for nearly 81 years. She was a 1940 graduate of McKinley High School and attended Canton Actual Business College. As a young woman she was employed as a bookkeeper at Harvard Clothing Store and Bowlus Tire Co. Later she worked and retired from North Canton Tire Co. and Val's Candies. In her 70's, she enjoyed working at Thompson's Dairyland for her nephew, David.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Crawford; beloved daughter, Judy Mark; stepson, Richard Crawford; sisters, Dorothy Mackenzie and June Roth; brother, Kenneth McDonald and treasured life-long friend, Don Elder. She is survived by her daughter, Robyn McDannell of Canton; stepson, Jim (Martha) Crawford of Massillon; special niece, Linda Fales of Canton. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jay (Jennifer) McDannell, Kari (Joseph) Atkins, Hank (Denise) Crawford, Mark (Lisa) Crawford, Molly (John) Phillips, Katie Quillin; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the First Church of the Resurrection, 901 East Tuscarawas Street, Canton with an hour of visitation prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Gaslite Villa, 7055 High Mill Ave. N.W. Canal Fulton, Ohio 44614 or Crossroads Hospice-3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, Ohio 44685.
