Fred Jones Obituary

Fred R. Jones Jr. passed away at his Evergreen home at age 89. He was born on Sept. 9, 1922, in Madison, Wis., and served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Byrnina; sons Perry (Michele) of New Castle, Pa., and David (Cecille) of Monroe, N.Y.; daughter Patricia (Steve) Lyons of Milford, N.Y.; brother Dr. Francis (Lib) Jones of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister Phoebe (Franz) Samuelson of Manhattan, Kan.; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and two great-grandsons.
Fred was a teacher by profession; among his many passions were skiing and square dancing. He started the Continental Divide horseback ride out of Del Norte, and belonged to the Appaloosa Club of Roosevelt, Utah. He loved sailing and was commodore of the Rio Grande Sail Club and the El Butte Sailors Windrider Club, both of Elephant Butte, N.M., where he made his home in the winter. He will be missed by many cousins and friends.
At his request, there will be no services.
