William Thompson Obituary

THOMPSON, WILLIAM ROBERT, 78, of Linthicum passed away on December 26, 2011 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Mr. Thompson was born in Pennsylvania on March 14, 1933 to the late William and Gertrude Thompson. He served in the Army Security Agency from 1953 to 1956. He retired from the National Security Agency in 1994. Bill was a Linthicum resident for 46 years. He volunteered at the National Electronics Museum, was an Amateur Radio operator. Bill has been involved with car clubs since the fifties and most recently the Corvette Club. He has traveled in all 50 states, Canada and some European countries. He was a member of NARFE chapter 1519, Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Assoc., NCRS-Mason Dixon Chapter and the Ski Club. Bill enjoyed skiing and sports car racing.

He was the beloved husband of Eleanor A. Thompson; devoted father of Michael J. Thompson and his wife Bonnie J. of Pasadena and loving grandfather of Christopher and Karah Thompson of Pasadena. Funeral services were held on Thursday for Mr. Thompson.
