Thomas Schulze Obituary

Thomas Robert Schulze, 68, of Stevensville, died June 13 at the Queen Anne's County Hospice Center. Born on October 4, 1944 in Bryn Mawr, PA, he was the son of the late James Wallace Schulze and Margaret Truitt Schulze. Fr. Schulze earned a BS degree from Morris Harvey College (now the University of Charleston), Charleston, WV, an MDiv degree from Berkeley Divinity School and an STM from Yale Divinity School, both of New Haven, CT. From 1971-1976 he was Chaplain at The Masonic Home and Hospital in Wallingford, CT and was a lecturer at Yale University supervising seminarians in the clinical experience at the MHH. From 1976-1989 he was Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton, MA. He served on the faculty of Saint Michael's Conference from 1979-2004 and was its Director from 1998-2004. He was ordained into the Priesthood of the Episcopal Church in 1972 and took a medical retirement in 1989. He was a World War II and Civil War buff. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Gladwell Schulze; three brothers, James Wallace Schulze, Jr. of Sunnyvale, CA, Louis Neidig Schulze of Lewes, DE, and John Barnard Schulze of Lewes, DE; sister, Suzanne Barbara Schulze of Trappe; and many nephews and nieces. He sponsored eight midshipmen and had fourteen grand-mids. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, August 12, at the Chapel at the United States Naval Academy. Internment will be at the Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Valley Forge, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Michael's Conference ( www.saintmichaelsconference.com ), Fr.
