Elizabeth Bukowsky Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Electra Hauser Bukowsky, 94, a 45- year resident of Stevens-ville and formerly of Bethesda, died November 15 at Corsica Hills Nursing Center in Centreville. Born July 30, 1919 in Montgomery, AL to the late Mims Howard Hauser and Pearl E. Crabill, Mrs. Bukowsky received a Bachelor's of Arts degree from the University of Alabama in Art and completed advanced studies in art education. She studied with artists in the Washington and Annapolis areas that included Daniel Mistrik, Gustav Trois and Joanne Scott and attended workshops with leading watercolorists such as Claude Croney, Mary Riechert, Skip Lawrence and Martha Hudson. Mrs. Bukowsky has murals in The Calhoun MEBA Engineering School in Easton, The Memorial Hospital at Easton, Fisherman's Inn at Kent Narrows, the Elks Lodge of Kent Island, Queenstown Bank and Kilby's Lodge as well as residences in Bethesda, Annapolis, Ocean City, and the Eastern Shore. She is featured in Paul Robert's book Maryland Muralists as the representative of Queen Anne's County. Paintings by Mrs. Bukowsky are owned by people in the Washington, Baltimore, Annapolis and New Canaan, Connecticut areas. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Union Trust Bank in Montgomery Alabama and the Eisinger collection in Montgomery County. She has received awards from art shows throughout Maryland. She was active in the Kent Island Federation of Art, The Art Advisory Committee of Chesapeake College, The Queen Anne's Arts Council and the Kent Island United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. "Buck" Bukowsky in 1994, and her son-in-law, George W. Dickson in 2005. She is survived by her son, John D. Bukowsky and his wife D'Janiah, daughter, Jan B. Dickson, and granddaughter, Shannon E. Dickson, all of Stevensville. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
