F. Joseph Svec

F. Joseph Svec, 75, of Taneytown, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at home.

He was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Baltimore. He was the husband of the late Barbara L. Svec.

He joined the Marine Corps reserves in 1956 and was enlisted until 1964. He served as past member of the Marine Corps League and held the position of Sergeant at Arms for the State Department of Maryland. He was also a member of the VA US program during the Vietnam war.

Prior to retirement from Hughes Electronics Corporation in March 2002, he held the position of warehouse supervisor. He also worked for C.G.R. Medical Group, Gould Electronics, Martin Marettia and Allied Signal as a first line manufacturing supervisor.

He moved from Baltimore to Taneytown in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown.

Surviving are daughters Lisa M. Trout, of Keymar, Beverly A. Svec-Feeser and husband Richard, of Taneytown; a fiance, Vicki L. Beacham, of Taneytown; sisters-in-law Beverly Mathias, of Pasadena, Rosemary Wisner, of Union Bridge, and Betty West and husband Walter, of Williamsburg, Va.; and grandchildren Megan Trout, of Sykesville, Travis Trout, of Keymar, and Autumn Feeser, of Taneytown.

He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dale Trout.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Martin Feild officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
