James Upperman Obituary

James Richard Upperman, 77, of Sykesville, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, after a brief illness. Born Aug. 16, 1934, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Paul Upperman and Freda C. Reed. He was the husband of the late Ella May Upperman. He was a veteran of the Army and had been a commercial truck driver for many years. He was a member of Sykesville American Legion Post 223. Surviving are sons Chester and James Robert Upperman, both of Sykesville, Lester Wriston and wife Norma, of Westminster, Douglas Lee Upperman, of Alexandria, Va., and Paul R. Upperman and wife Amanda, of Reisterstown; a daughter, Della Noyes, of Westminster; a sister, Nancy Holmes, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; grandchildren James and Lisa Noyes, Tracy Kotowski, Sarah George, Ryan, Joshua, Stephanie, Paul and Jordan Upperman, Leslie Tomaino and Christine Hillyer; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by brothers Tom Horton and Charles Robert Patton. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Waddell officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
