BROOKSVILLE - Edmon C. Patterson, 84, died July 7, 2011, at Noxubee General Hospital. Services are today at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Macon with Dr. Bill Duncan and Bro. Byron Pickering officiating. Burial will follow in Ellison Ridge Cemetery near Louisville. Visitation is today from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon. Mr. Patterson was a native of Gholson and a graduate of Central High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II as a Sergeant in the Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance Company. He was awarded the American Theater Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was employed by Monarch Rubber Plant and Senter's Hardware. He was the retired owner of Patterson's Grocery. He was a member of the Sower's Sunday School Class and the Brotherhood at the First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Mae Higginbotham; brothers, Edward and Elbert Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Eaves of Brooksville; sons, James Edmon Patterson of Delaware, Ohio, Michael Dewey Patterson of Birmingham, Ala., Gary Wayne Patterson of Akron, Ohio, and L. J. Patterson Jr. of Preston; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 510, Macon, MS 39341.
