Geraldine Boddicker Obituary

Tama - Geraldine Ann Hegewald Boddicker, age 87, died Sunday, March 06, 2011 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 900 Park St., Tama, with Fr. Michael Mescher as celebrant. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. until mass time at the church on Thursday. Burial at St Patrick's Cemetery, Tama.

Geraldine Ann Hegewald Boddicker was born June 23, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Robert and Magdelena Fritz Hegewald. She grew up in Newhall and graduated from Newhall High School. On June 13, 1940 she married LeRoy Boddicker at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watkins, IA. The couple farmed near Newhall and Geraldine worked for many years at Armstrongs Department Store in Cedar Rapids. In 1995 they moved to a farm east of Tama. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends.

She is survived by her children; Jim (Janet) Boddicker, Newhall, IA, Judy (Ronald) Garbers, Keystone, IA, John (Rhonda) Boddicker, Platte City, MO, Jane Junge, Vinton, IA, Joe Boddicker, Purcellville, VA; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000 and her brother, Paul Hegewald.

A memorial fund has been established.
