Kenneth L. Murty

1927 - 2011

VINTON - Kenneth L. Murty, 83, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Friday, June 17, 2011 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton.  Interment will be held at the Garwin Cemetery in Garwin.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday.  A memorial fund has been established.
     Kenneth was born November 7, 1927 at Green Mountain, Iowa to Ward and Lucile (Yetley) Murty.
     On March 22, 1947 he was united in marriage to Marcella Uhlenberg.  She preceded him in death on September 28, 2010.
     Kenneth served his nation in the Army/Air Force from 1945 to 1948.  Prior to his retirement he sold building supplies at McDowell's in Vinton.
     He is survived by his son, John (Karen) Murty of Toledo; his daughter, Diane (Vollie) Sanders of Maple Grove, MN; his grandchildren, Annette (Jody) Kotouc of Toledo, Brad (Nicole) Murty of Conrad, Clint (Tiffany) Murty of Waterloo, Vollie "Chip" Sanders, III of Albertville, MN, and Brandon Sanders of Maple Grove, MN; his great grandchildren, Ethan Kotouc, Megan and Paul Murty, and Rachel Murty; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Husak.
     In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Murty; his daughter, Sandy Murty; and four brothers.
