I am so sad to get this news today. I first met Corene probably back in the '70's at Family Planning, and we became friends. What a divine woman always. Later, Corene participated in supporting my homebirth of Asa. Many years later, Corene connected with Asa and his fiancee' April, creating a beautiful crown for her wedding.

I met Corene in 1999 when twelve of us trained as the first group of certified audio describers in Pennsylvania. From then until last summer when she became too ill to participate, she voiced lyrical, verbal descriptions so that people with blindness and vision impairment could "see" theatre and dance performances. She was especially gifted in using her descriptive techniques for performances on Children's Day at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. View Via Headphones of the Sight Loss Support Group of Central PA, Inc. will miss her dedication, her insight and her artistry. I shall miss her unique friendship. Peace to your soul, Corene.

I met Corene in 1999 when twelve of us trained as the first formal group of audio describers in Pennsylvania. Subsequently, she became a dedicated participant of View Via Headphones for the Sight Loss Support Group of Central PA, Inc. I loved partnering with her in audio description. Her verbal descriptions were lyrical and transporting, and at theatre and dance performances throughout the region, she created beautiful word pictures for our blind and visually impaired clients. She, particularly, enjoyed audio describing for the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts on Children's Day where she made the puppet shows at Schwab come alive for blind children. I admired her so much. The community has lost a real humanist. I shall miss her gentle egalitarianism. May your soul repose in peace, Corene.

I met Corene in the 1980s when she did an exam and found a cyst. She directed me to a hospital in Philadelphia that literally saved my life. Actually in such an unselfish and natural way it was Corene that saved my life and she was always there to answer questions. She made things go smoothly in a very uncomfortable situation with cancer. She was my guardian angel and I have never forgotten her expertise and easy way of knowing how to BE. I love her for
something that she never claimed... and yet continued my life because of what she knew when State College doctors could not do the same. Bless you Beloved One. I LOVE and
BLESS you as you have blessed me. Fly with the Angels
and know how much one person can make all the difference. Love and Light

"Corene and I married in 1964, in our early 20's, when we were just learning how to be adults. In a way, we grew up together in State College, after leaving families and many friends behind in our home state of Michigan. Corene recently summed up our 7 years together when she told me, 'We had a good marriage. It just didn't last.'
I couldn't agree more." Ron Klauda (Prince Frederick, MD)

One of the sweetest women I have ever known. I first knew her as my nuse, then, years later reconnected as a friend. Her kindess and big heart will live on. Bless you, Corene.

I just realized that I've known Corene for 37 years. I do and will continue to think of her often. She was much loved by all who knew her.

A woman of substance and a presence with a heart of gold.
Her spirit will live on through all the folks she has touched.
God bless.

It was an honor to get to know her, however briefly.

As an actress I worked with Corene in Bellefonte's Project for the Performing Arts. She worked tirelessly no matter what show or project was being produced. She was a very sweet, caring, loving person, and her passing is a big loss. I haven't seen her for a long time, but she was a person I will never forget!
