Lorena Register Obituary

Lorena Gertrude Register MARION, AL - Lorena Gertrude Register, 102, of Marion, Alabama, died Thursday, July 9, 2015. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Monday, July 13, 2015, in Woodside Cemetery, 341 North Walnut Street, Pamplico, SC, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Sunday in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Lorena (Miss Rene) was born August 20, 1912 in Florence County, SC, a daughter of the late Charlie Collins and the late Evie Davis Collins. She had many friends, and each and everyone of them left living today can tell you wonderful stories about her life. Miss Rene was born with plenty but the 1920 depression wiped away everything, including land, money and jobs. Life was hard, but she always managed to put her shoulder to the grind, help her neighbor and seek out a living. Many of her wonderful friends and loved ones have gone on before her, and she has been looking forward to joining them in that wonderful home she has looked forward to going to since her youth. Living for Christ was her "Motto." She was loved so very much and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Guinevere Jones Cochran (William H.); her son, Lester L. Jones; grandchildren, Claudette Strothmann (Tom), Sylvia Cochran Coleman (Rick), Bruce C. Cochran (Amanda), Amy Jones O'Connor (Chris), Rachel Ann Jones Mills and Mark Jones (Lisa); step-grandchildren, Sara Rene Cochran Crocker (Mike), William Perry Cochran (Debra), Isadora Holland Poston, Sheila Hyman and Vonda Hyman; and great-grandchildren, Eric Strothmann, Christopher Strothmann, Justin Coleman, Alex Cochran, Celena Cochran, Manual Cochran, Brandon Cochran, Marcus Jones, Alena Jones, Clint Marr and Tiffany. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, George Clinton Jones, Phillip Holland and Joseph E. Register; brother, Lori Collins; daughter who died at birth, Evie Jones; son, John Devoe Jones; step-children: Lucille Jones Holland Calcutt, Howard Jones, Ludie Jones, David Jones, Ollie Mae Jones, Lonnie H. Holland, Margaret Holland, Vernon Holland, Mary Francis Register Hyman and Buddy Register; grandchildren, John Rupert Baggett, Jeffrey D. Fogle, Clinton Jones; and step-grandchildren, Clayton Holland and Celene Holland Cribb. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
