Ruth Mayer Obituary

MAYER, Ruth Ruth Rogers Mayer, 86, widow of Ebenezer Boyd Mayer, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died Monday, March 13, 2006 in a local hospital. The Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth R. Mayer will be in Christ Our King Catholic Church Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at eleven o'clock. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 o'clock. The Rosary will be at 6:00 o'clock. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be in Penny Royal Cemetery, Georgetown, SC, Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. (843)881-9293. Mrs. Mayer was born December 10, 1919, in Society Hill, SC, daughter of the late William Coker Rogers and Margaret Ruth Schwarz Rogers. She was a graduate of Coker College and Appalachian State University and retired in 1985 from Charleston County Library as head of the Circulation Dept. She also drove a bookmobile and was a member of Hobcaw Garden Club as well as the Hobcaw Yacht Club. She was a long time member of Christ Our King Catholic Church and a volunteer at East Cooper Regional Medical Center. Surviving are her sons, William Boyd Mayer and his wife, Mary Molly Greenleaf Mayer, and Francis Marshall Mayer; one sister, Ann Rogers King of Society Hill, SC; grandchildren, William Boyd Mayer, Jr. and his wife, Mary Dickey Boardman Mayer, Mary Buford Mayer Shaw and her husband, William Chandler Shaw, Christopher Marshall Mayer, Kerrie Lynn Mayer, Stefan Randall Mayer, Caitlyn Coker Mayer; great grandchildren, Mary Dickey Boardman Mayer, William Boyd Mayer III and Mary Gilchrist Shaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charleston County Library, 68 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or The Garden at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mt. It was with sorrow that we heard of Aunt Ruthie's passing. We have enjoyed a close relationship with her, as well as Uncle Boyd, over many, many years. We are sending a MEMORIAL in Honor of her and uncle Boyd to The Garden at Christ Our King Catholic Church. Again, we hold all of you in our prayers and recognize your sorrow in her passing.
