Sgt Prince was my basic training drill instructor at Ft Know from September 28 to December 8, 1968. I greatly respected him and his training discipline and really liked him. I wish I'd been able to spend time with him outside of training, especially after I got back from Vietnam. My condolences to his family and please know I loved him.

I believe this John Leroy Prince was my platoon sergeant in basic training at Ft Knox, Kentucky in the Fall of 1968. He was the best drill sergeant I have ever met. His uniforms were always clean and pressed, he was a Vietnam vet, authoritative, knew his work and drove all us trainees as we needed to make us into soldiers. He was a great friend and I can't say enough good things about him. I only wish I'd done this web search several years ago so that I could have called him and talked over old times. I mourn his passing.

Patsy, Theresa and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was such a nice man. I remember all of the good times that we had growing up together. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

I put in an application at American Bakeries in 1983 while in Charleston on vacation from Michigan. John L called me 2 weeks later having never met me and asked when I could start work. I put in my 2 DAY notice, sold my home in 1 day, rented a U-Haul, and headed 1,100 miles south, and the rest is history. I worked hard for him because he trusted me, and believed in me. I'll never forget the man who gave me and my family a new beginning. He was truly "one of a kind." And, yes John L.....there is bowling in heaven!!

Ron and I are so sorry to hear of John's passing. We always thought so much of him. He always made us feel like part of his family. We enjoyed all of the family get togethers with him. He was a joy to be around. He will be greatly missed. Praying for the Lord's comfort as you all go through your grief and peace in knowing he is with our Heavenly Father for all eternity.
