Mary Ellen Worrell Beaty MINT HILL - Mary Ellen Worrell Beaty, 90, of Mint Hill, NC, with her family at her side, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Mary was born in Dugspur, VA, on March 3, 1924 to parents Tony Lee and Bessie Worrell. On December 20, 1941, she married Harry K. Beaty in York, SC and they were blessed with four children. Mary was gifted with skills as a seamstress and worked for a time at Mitchell's Tuxedo Rental. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was an avid doll collector. What Mary most loved, however, was time spent with family and friends and she will be sadly missed. She is survived by four children all of Charlotte: Rodger K. (Vickie) Beaty, Gary L. (Karen) Beaty, Linda B. (Bob) Bell and John D. (Mary) Beaty; a sister, Shirley Webb of Hillsville, VA; a brother Tony Lee (Hazel) Worrell of Pinnacle, NC; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many special nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harry, who died on October 21, 2012; as well as her parents; and two sisters, Margie Dalton and Dorothy Dalton. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208.
