H. Harrison Obituary

H. Bruce Harrison
TEGA CAY -- H. Bruce Harrison, 61, died in his home on March 2, 2012, after a brief but tenacious battle with cancer. Born in Elmo, Missouri, Bruce grew up in the great state of Texas. He graduated from David Crockett High School in Austin, Texas. After graduation, Bruce enlisted in the United States Army where he attended flight school and became a Warrant Officer in the 4th Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division. Bruce was an American Hero, saving the lives of untold American GIs during his two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded many medals for his courage, bravery and leadership including the Distinguished Flying Cross, one of the highest honors in the Military. Bruce attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he made several lasting friendships, including his dear friend Mike Dyer, the Godfather of his children.
Bruce had been employed with the Pabst Brewing Company for over 30 years. He was an outstanding businessman and made a powerful and positive impact on the lives of whomever he came into contact with. Bruce loved boating on Lake Wylie, snowmobiling in Traverse City, Michigan, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandsons.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patti Harrison; daughter Julia Hayes and her husband Jason of Columbia; son Jason Harrison of Tega Cay; and his beloved grandsons Brendan and Liam. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Bell Harrison; mother, Jean Joan Harrison; sister, Alexa Hamel; and niece, Brittany Jarrell.
The family would like to invite loved ones and friends to join them in Celebrating Bruce's life. The location, time and date will be announced later. It was Bruce's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor the Wounded Warrior Project. To donate, you can visit their website at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or you can mail donations in at: Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road Ste. 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Bruce exemplified the Jordan Standard of Sigma Chi more than just about anyone. He set the bar that many of us aimed toward. A Gentleman, a Class Act, the Highest of Integrity… these are just some of the things that come to mind when you think of Bruce. Our fond memories of and respect for you will never fade. My heart goes out to Patti and his family. Bruce, guard well… In hoc, Dave Wilkinson, Sigma Chi Eta Iota ‘73

Bruce always tried to be certain everyone in his presence was comfortable, taken care of, happy. When he spoke with you; looked into your eyes; asked questions; you felt he truly cared; always left me laughing!! Enjoy yourself, friend; you deserve the joy. Wilma
