Brian Wheatley Obituary

Brian O'Neal Wheatley
Brian, 34, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012. He was born on October 11, 1977 in Orlando, FL. He moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 14. Brian attended Charlotte Christian School and graduated with the class of '96 from Southpark Academy.
A self-employed salesman, Brian was a loving son, beloved brother, and dedicated father. With a heart of gold and a personality to match, he was deeply cherished with great friends and a loving family. A child at heart, children young and old gravitated toward Brian where they were unconditionally greeted with an infectious smile, a warm magical hug, and a pat on the back. An avid outdoorsman, hunting or fishing with the Carolina blue skies striking the horizon, and a slight chill to the air was Brian's ideal day. For all those who knew Brian and for all the lives he touched, his presence will forever be missed.
Brian is survived by his father, O'Neal (Donna) Wheatley, his mother, Cynthia (Mark) Ellenburg; his daughter, Kristen Wheatley; sisters, Stephanie (Mark) McConahy and Katherine Wheatley; his niece Hannah; and grandparents, Carl Swanson and Patsy Alcott. He was pre-deceased by his grandfather, Paul Alcott.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 30th, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 6800 Sardis Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hunt of a Lifetime Foundation, in memory of Brian Wheatley, PO Box 241, Harborcreek, PA, 16421, or online at www.huntofalifetime.org.

Brian and I both worked for the same roofing company last year. Brian visited me at my house almost every day between May and September and we became very good friends. We drank coffee and smoked cigars and talked about life. I'm 23 years older than Brian but we still connected in many ways. Brian had no fear of older people or authority figures. I am a retired airline pilot and Brian loved flying so naturally we had a bond. He introduced me to his sister (nurse) last year and she was also super nice. I now have a framed picture of Brian on my mantle so I can still see him every day. I miss him.

We had our future planned out together. My forever with you was not God's forever. He had a plan for bringing us back into eachothers lives and maybe one day I will see it as clearly as you see it now. I will forever miss your smile, kisses on the forehead, cuddling and hugs for no reason other then to say I love you. You are so deeply missed and until I can hold you in my arms again, you will always remain my forever. You showed me how to love and be loved in ways I never knew were possible. I love you, I love you, I love you...

Brian was one of my best and dear friends. To Brian: I will always remember how you became my friend at SPA. I will remember the doughnuts we did in the gravel parking lot on that first field trip. I will remember all the fish we caught and the things we blew up.I will remember the stink boom we set off and Matt pulling me, then you, then Steve out of class for questioning and we never got in trouble for it. I will remember You and Steve taking me out on my 21st Birthday and making it a night I can't remember. I will remember the night Crowley crashed your motorcycle. I will remember the blast we had in FL. I will remember shooting those potatoes 500 yards across the field on providence road. I will remember going with you to meet your new puppy Bella. I will remember meeting your beautiful daughter for the first time and how proud you were. I will remember how you always took my call as I did with you whenever we just needed to get stuff off our chest. You were my go to friend when I had down time and could always tell you anything without judgment. I will always love you. I look forward to seeing you again and talking about all the fun we had. You will always be in my heart, mind, and soul. Thank You Brian for being my Friend. Love Jay

This certainly is a tough one. An enormous loss to so many who loved you. Im having a very difficult time articulating my thoughts these days. I see your face, dear friend, every time I close my eyes. I remember how your brotherly embrace was medicinal; and your smile- it lit up a room. Contagious, that smile. Purely and gracefully contagious. My curiosity, though, the questions that I have, are paralyzing. How do you begin to process the loss of someone you thought could never leave? Time? Prayer? Perhaps both. In the end, I simply hope that you knew how deeply, and unconditionally loved you were. That you are, and always will be. The stars in heaven shine a little brighter now. Watch over us all, and know that you will never be forgotten.

I knew Brian through my brother Scott and all of their buddies at South Park Academy. It had been sometime since I had seen Brian but the one thing I will always remember about Brian was the huge smile he had on his face everytime I would see him. His family, and all of his friends are in my prayers. Rest in peace Brian...

Brian has been in my thoughts many times. His passing too soon is so sad and hard to accept. I loved Brian for the child he was. He always made me smile, and although he was so many years younger, he always had time to share some of his life with me. My husband, Jerry, always admired Brian's sportsmanship and hunting abilities. We will both miss Brian and we hope he is at peace. We also hope Brian's family will find comfort in the coming days to help them through time of grief. He was a special person and he was so loved.
