Mrs. Bobo, 90, of Charlotte, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital - Matthews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at McEwen - Mint Hill Chapel. Interment will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bobo was born October 11, 1920 in Badin, NC, a daughter of the late Charles Weddington Williams, Sr. and Eunice Cloud Jackson Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Whitson W. Sloop, Jr.; her son, Walter Steven Sloop; sister, Nancy Williams Cuthbertson; and her brother, Charles W. Williams, Jr. June was a graduate of Oakhurst High School and during her career she worked for State Farm Insurance, Shaw Manufacturing Co., and Ivey's Department Store. She was a charter member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her beloved husband, L. Paul Bobo; daughters, Nancy Sloop Abernethy (Charles) of Charlotte, and Judith Sloop Winge (Roger) of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law, Carol Helms Sloop of Columbia, SC; step-children, Paula Bobo Hightower of Spring Hope, NC, Carol Bobo of Matthews, NC, Greg Bobo (Debbie) of York, SC, Mark Bobo (Christine) of Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren, David Abernethy of Seattle, WA, Terri Abernethy of Asheville, NC, Brian Sloop of Columbia, SC, Mandy Winge of Asheville, NC; step-grandchildren, Melissa Llewellyn, Megan Dyson, Meryn Hightower Johnson, John Bobo, Chandler Bobo, and Grayson Bobo; great grandchildren, Caroline Sloop, Sarah Sloop, Skye Millard, Grey Llewellyn, Colin Johnson, and Evan Johnson; and nephews, Monte Cuthbertson, Michael Cuthbertson (Susan), Steve Williams (Diane), and James Williams (Jill).
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nursing Staff of the 4th floor of Presbyterian Hospital - Matthews for their kind and compassionate care of Mrs. Bobo.
