Laura Carter Kennedy
Laura Kennedy, 85, of Charlotte, NC, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, in her home, surrounded by her family.
Born March 10, 1926, in Glenwillard, PA, she was the daughter, 7th of 11 children of Joseph and Bessie Mae Williams Carter. She moved from PA to Charlotte in 2005 to live closer to immediate family. Laura was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by her son Carter Kennedy and his wife Debby (Desmond) of Vilas, NC; daughter Lynne Kennedy and her husband Clifton Settlemyer of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Clark Kennedy, Katy Kennedy, Laura Settlemyer, Jill Settlemyer, and Diana Settlemyer; brother Richard (and Linda) Carter, sister Shirley (and Ted) Thomas, 2 sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and many loving and loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to parents deceased are husband Clark Kennedy in 1995, son Dan Kennedy in 2008, brothers William, Joseph, Thomas, George, Calvin, and Donald, and sisters Laverna Reeves and Donna Mastrangelo.
A memorial service is currently planned for August 20, 2011 at Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg, PA.
According to Laura's wishes, memorial gifts may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Her family would like to thank Presbyterian Hospice of Charlotte and Dr. Geoffrey Chapman for their support and guidance.
