Lawrence S. Lau "Larry" CHARLOTTE - Memorial services for Lawrence S. Lau, of Lake Barrington, IL, formerly of Charlotte, NC, will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 507 S. Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter's Columbarium. Memorial visitation will be held in Biss Hall at St. Peter's Church after inurnment. Larry was born October 19, 1935, in Rockford, IL, and he passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, May 18, 2012 ,at his home in Lake Barrington. Survivors include his children, Barbara Lau, Michael (Julie) Lau, Lisa (Scot) Warren, Jennifer (David) McCartney, Jon (Renea) Lau; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys (nee Sechler) and Francis X. Lau; sister, Mary Janet Miller; and brother, Francis "Bud" Lau, Jr. Larry attended John Carroll University and remained in Cleveland to begin his career in the apparel industry with Bobby Brooks. He moved to Allentown, PA to work at Climax Specialties and then to Charlotte, NC to work at Klear Knit and Quantus. Larry was an avid model railroader his whole life and upon retirement developed a passion for rescuing pets and saved several Labrador Retrievers.
