I know this is late to reply, my fault for misplacing it. Lola had a strong positive influence on my life and others as sixteen year old kids trying to figure out life. As mentioned before we studied senior life saving and became a life guard under her direction. She was not only a beautiful talented your women in her own right, she was fun to be around. This age of innocence only lasted one summer 1963. We never saw her again but we never forgot her. Here we all are at seventy years old. It is painful to loose someone of this magnitude who helped many people through her life.

You along with Frank Hershey at Maple Grove Pool in Lancaster, Pa in 1963, taught myself and two others Senior Life Saving so we could be lifes guard at Maple Grove Pool. You were a diver at MSU, Frank was a punter at PSU.

Lola was always smiling and always kind, I knew her through my work at NASA; where she always asked about my daughter's swimming. She was a modern day Renaissance woman.

I'm sad to learn of Lola's passing. I hadn't seen her in several years, but we worked together at the National Space Science Data Center at NASA in the early 1970s and she lived only a block away from me in Greenbelt.

Lola was my senior life saving instructor at Maple Grove Swimming Pool in Lancaster,Pennsylvania, in 1963. She was tough but fair and so full of energy we adored her. I never forgot her and am so said to hear she has passed.

I spend almost two fruitful years working with Lola at the GCMD team, although with ups and downs as a NASA rookie contractor, I will always keep in my mind the word that she sets in my soul and my mind forever "PLEASE ALWAYS REINVENT YOURSELF BOY". Many candles and happy returns for you Lola.

Lola's sweet smile always lighten up everyone's day. Her kind words and pleasant greetings always made us
feel among friends.
I met Lola 28 years ago when she started at NASA and worked in field research programs that involved many scientists from many institutions. Lola was
a friend to all of us.
We kept in touch years after the programs we worked on at NASA ended sharing stories of our families and
adventures.
My heart goes out to Sperry and Joel their spouses and kids because they've lost a sweet Mom and Grandma.

I Knew Lola For only 2 Years While I Was At GCMD, I'm So Sorry to Hear of Her Loss. She Was So Supportive Of Me at the Begining Of My Career, And She Was An Inspiration. I Wouldn't Be Where I Am Without Having Had Her Confidence In Me.

I worked with Lola for 18 years on the Global Change
Master Directory. She was my mentor and a good friend. Lola loved to tell me about how much she loved her parent's house on the hill in PA. She loved to fly airplanes and the peacefulness of flying. I am the person I am today because she decided to take a chance on hiring a young 26 year old. It has been an adventure Lola. We have had our ups and downs, but you made an impact on many people. I hope that somewhere you are out there behind the controls of a Cessna 172 and at peace.

Lola had an especially good fit for her work on the Master Directory at NASA Goddard. First, she liked to work with other people and to help them. She also had a special background in several science areas (such as climatology, earth science, geography). This permitted Lola to deliver a unique coupling between science and data when she described the satellite sensors, the data sets and the data access tools for the Master Directory. From about July 1979-1989, I had much work with NASA Goddard, the US Climate Program Office, and the National Academy. I have many fond memories of interactions with Lola.
It is clear that Lola and her family have had a very difficult struggle with cancer. My deep sympathies go to the family.

I worked with Lola many years ago on the GCMD. She was especially kind to us when my husband took ill; he still uses the thoughtful gift that she brought to him then. We both were very saddened to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and colleagues.

Oh, Lola -- You were always so bright, vibrant, and alive. We met when I was assigned as your TA at Chapel Hill and became close friends. We always picked up right where we left off if time got away from us. I'm so glad we were friends. Condolences to your family and friends, because you will be missed.
