Theresa DeRhodes Obituary
Born in Catawba County on January 23, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Theodore DeRhodes and Phyllis Montgomery DeRhodes White.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one uncle, Tony Montgomery.
Theresa graduated from North Iredell High School and Mitchell Community College and served the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire Department for 25 years, retiring as Captain, and also served the Charlotte community as a Paramedic.
Theresa was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir and enjoyed participating with the Mission trips.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Rick DeRhodes and wife Janet Lee DeRhodes of Waxhaw, NC; two aunts, Judy Lafone and Nell Montgomery; cousins, Adrienne Long, Travis Lafone, Chris Montgomery and Matthew Montgomery; nieces, Kathryn DeRhodes Li and Carolina DeRhodes and her four God-Children, Isaiah, Kelly Grace, Payton and Annie Long.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM at Western Avenue Baptist Church with the service celebrating Theresa's life beginning at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Jeff Spry officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation 2917 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC 28208 or to Western Avenue Baptist Church Missions Fund 1206 Museum Road Statesville, NC 28625.

So sorry to hear of Terry's passing. Our paths crossed a long time ago when she was a firefighter in Battalion 3 / Station 13. She was an interesting person and advanced up through the ranks. The right words are always hard to find in times like this. God Bless you Terry.

No words express the loss of such a passionate person who gave so much of herself to others. ITLS, EMS and the Fire Service in both NC and the world have grown secondary to Terry's leadership and "boots on the ground" approach to learning and service. She quietly went about being involved so others could be better patient care providers. She was still caring for others while suffering over the past few years and recent months with her vision being her good health and continuing service to others. Thank you Terry for bringing spirit to our work and a clear reason for why we do the work. We will miss you.
