Hilda Heath Obituary

Hilda Oleta Brewer Heath WILMINGTON - Our beloved mother, Hilda Oleta Brewer Heath, age 92 of Wilmington, NC left this earth on March 23, 2017. She was born in Greensboro, NC on April 19, 1924, to Bessie Elizabeth (Thomason) Brewer and Luther Green Brewer. Hilda spent most of her childhood and adult life in Charlotte, NC and was a graduate of Harry P. Harding High School. She continued her education at Queens University and The Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing where she was a member of the first graduating class. Her compassionate and caring career as a registered nurse spanned over 35 years, with a predominate nursing focus being the treatment of oncology patients utilizing radiation therapy. She was a lifelong member and participant in the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Hilda was an ardent music lover her entire life. Her first love was the piano, which she began studying as a child. She later played the coronet in high school and college where she was voted most talented by her peers. Hilda was often seen tickling the ivories and even played for the church services in her retirement home well into her 80's. Hilda lived her life with a total servant's heart. After being a loving and devoted wife and Mother, she retired to a home by the sea in Carolina Beach NC. As was her selfless nature, she spent her time raising her young grandson Luke to adulthood. She loved flowers and flower arranging, studying calligraphy and watching the gulls and the ships pass by on her deck on Myrtle Grove Sound. Hilda was preceded in death by her one sibling Lt.
