Carol and Phil, as this time of year arrives, it feels like you are extended family. Our lives intersected through work for many decades, and friendship grows over time as those milestones occur. I remember your daughter in the NCE demonstration school, Carol's assisting me with my literature review search for my dissertation, interacting with Phil as a faculty member, and meeting Natalie when she worked for the President and as she pursued her passion for teaching and learning. I recall the meeting where she was invited to join the ABS faculty, and she immediately made an impact. Memories surface in all the ways that she influenced my life as an educator and as another person who is growing and changing through diverse experiences. She would marvel and rejoice now at the incredibly diverse students and passions that they bring to NLU-ABS. Hope this time of year brings you peace and joy for her life. Craig

What a wonderful and strong woman, diplomatic and kind in everything she said. I cannot believe 6 years have gone by since her untimely death. Natalie is not forgotten.

Each time I refer to an ABS course (the NLU program Natalie devoted her life to) I see her influence; her contributions are many. I am reviewing Adult Development and Learning, a course that I shared responsibilities with her. While she approached the course from human growth and personality awareness and learning styles, I appreciated and expanded my knowledge from our interactions and her expertise. I remember her this year, once again as I reflect on the subject matter, and her passions for the student learning. Her students adored her.

I was reminded last Sunday about Natalie's thoughtfulness. During the Fall 2015, I talked with Natalie frequently, and at times she was cleaning out her office in our NLU Skokie Campus since the campus was relating the Campus operations to the other regional centers. She was combing through her files and sent me quite a few over a period of weeks. Many of them contained historical records of the Applied Behavioral Sciences Department, and all of them included personal notes about the contents. One was a journal article that she knew I would understand the context about the research study. I also came across her doctoral dissertation where I had served as a member of her committee. I was looking for a citation, and decided to re-read the summary of her findings. She so cherished her students and invested time in her colleagues. She left an amazing legacy influencing the lives of students, faculty and staff at NLU. Her experience and voice can still surface since she was a strong advocate for the students and the curriculum-program that served them.

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your lossour thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. For us Dr. Natalie Manbeck was one of the best professors we had honors to learn from. She was full of energy, understanding and care. She was believing and supporting us while we were obtaining our BA and MS degrees at NLU. We will miss her tremendously, but she will remain in our hearts forever as our mentor and friend.
With deepest sympathy,

I was so glad I got to spend some time with Natalie at Kelley's graduation last year. It was the first time I had met her son and his family. The children are beautiful, just like her. I always admired her education/profession. She told some wonderful stories about her sabbaticals and most recent vacations. RIP sweet girl. xoxo

Tho the loss of our loved ones is always difficult, we rejoice in memories of those who leave us too soon. Natalie was always a lover of life and learning. She shared her knowledge of
learning with so many, not only in thru heracclaimed carreer, but thru living her life. I recently heard someone say how travel is knowledge. How fitting,as Natalie loved to travel and shared this knowledge throgjout her life with Frank. The knowledge and bond of those trips with forever be passed to his children & their family as they go forward in life.
Natalie, may you find peace in your travels beyond. You will be missed by many..

We share in the grief and loss at Natalie's death and in the joy and appreciation of her life. Natalie, a caring woman, touched and enriched the lives of many people from several countries, ages, and stages in life.
Natalie was in and out of Deane's life for almost 67 years; in and out of Connie's since 1960.
Two lines of the Blessing for Easter by Ruth Burgess used at a Sunrise Service last Sunday is meaningful:
"The way ahead is unknown. It will always be like that.
But having danced in the light we will look for glory everywhere."

My heart feels sadness as well as joy at this moment for Natalie. Natalie's National Louis University family mourns her passing and will miss her presence, her contributions and her passion for interacting and encouraging students in learning and growth. Natalie focused her energy around student access to learning and to personal and professional growth based on students' unique learning strengths. I had the honor and pleasure of working alongside Natalie for nearly 30 years. I felt pure joy each time I heard her voice and observed her smile. She is missed and remembered for her love and joy in learning. My condolences to Carol and Phil and other family members. Her colleague and friend,

We are lucky to have known Natalie over the years. She brought us Frank, a strong character, fun upstanding gentleman to our extended family. Natalie often shared little side stories about Frank's upbringing and childhood. You could certainly sense the positive influence she had on him. Albeit we did not see Natalie often, she was truly enthralled about family, Frank and Erin, and her grandchildren. Our family sends our sincere condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the Manbeck and Gidcumb families. We will miss Natalie and will forever cherish the fond memories of her.

I met Natalie in 1996, when I was an exchange student in the U.S. She was the first American person I spoke to when I arrived. She was a wonderful ambassador to her country and to AFS.
I will never forget her kindness, her gentle voice, her ability to listen with a smile.
I felt welcome in her house and my memories in America are full of lovely Natalie.
I was truly saddened to find out about her passing.
Rest in peace, dearest Natalie.
Love

I met dear Natalie at the Levy Center in Evanston several years ago. I shared her love of dance, education and learning along with many other things. She and I spent many dinners talking about the love she had for her son and daughter-in-law and the joy that her beautiful grandchildren brought her.

Franklin, I did not know your Mom well but whenever I saw her she was always smiling. That surely was because she loved her son and grandchildren so much. Losing your mom is a pain that never goes away because moms are special. Just know there's nothing wrong with missing her. Always miss her and remember her because she will ALWAYS be looking down on you and smiling. My heart is with you Franklin. Love you like a brother.

Natalie loved her son Frank and was so proud of him and his wife Erin's accomplishments and their children Charlie and Georgia. She loved to talk about her grandchildren and said that she went to every soccer game that Charlie had and loved playing with him and his sister Georgia.
I loved to hear about her travels she made you feel as if you were right there with her.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
