ELLEN KINAHAN Obituary

Ellen "Nell" Kinahan, nee Galvin, 101, devoted wife of the late Anthony P. Kinahan; loving mother of Ellen (Walt) Laechel, the late Jim, John (Kathleen), Kathleen (Gerald) Kowalewski, and Tony; grandmother of Mark, Sharon and Michael Laechel, Elizabeth, John, Erin, John, Timothy and the late Nell Kinahan, Jennifer (Tim) Hanenburg, Gerald, Mitchell and Ellen Kowalewski; great-grandmother of six; fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ellen was born in Scartaglin, County Kerry, Ireland in 1909. She met Tony at an Irish dance in Chicago and they became partners for life. She was especially devoted to her faith and lived it every single day. Prayers for others became the mainstay for her life. Throughout the years she set a fine example of love and generosity for her family and friends. Visitation at St. Julie Billiart Church, 7399 W. 159th Street, Tinley Park from 12 p.m. until her Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010. Nell will be laid to rest on Monday at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls are appreciated. Dear K2,
My prayers and sympathy are with you at this time of the death of your dear mom. I do remember her from our high school days. How blessed you were to have her so long. May the cherished memories you hold dear give you strength believing she now enjoys the fullness of life in God's loving embrace. May our good God give you and your family peace and consolation at this time of great loss.

My heart goes out to all of you. How lucky you were to have your Mom/Grandma for all these years. What wonderful memories you can cherish. She did leave behind a wonderful legacy - with such quiet dignity. May you find comfort in the thoughts and prayers sent your way.

Uncle Jack, Aunt Kathleen, Erin, John and Kinahan family, my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Mom and Grandmother. I remember Grandma Nell as a quiet and dignified woman, always extremely pleasant. May we all be lucky enough to have a life as long, and a legacy as great as she has had. God bless you all.
